Possible reason for the departure of the sheep

Everyone with a blog, from time to time, does the 'weird search terms that brought people here' post. This is mine.

I wonder what the person searching for 'lil bow peep big cock' made of what he or she (let's face it: he) found?

And, more worryingly, I wonder why google pointed here?

Little Bo Peep loses, files for grounds*

You were in Manhattan and going to Il Trovatore at the MET. There was nothing about cocks (even roosters or coq au vin) but the title was the lure.

By the way, I agree with you about Tucci as Leonore (I was fortunate enough to get her in the role on one occasion) and Quivar who, I always wished, had been engaged quite a bit more often at the MET.

That is great sleuthing, Will, thanks very much!

So, it turns out it's all Rufus Wainwright's fault.

It's very respectable to ridicule and dismiss Rufus in certain NYC opera circles these days given the disappointing history of his opera and his patent inability to sing the Big Number from it in public.

I now how lurid and highly unpleasant images of what they could have been looking for going through my head.
